Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) in a Michigan Divorce
A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is required if the divorce action requests the division or transfer of interests of IRA and pension plans to the divorcing spouse or to a child. The order has to be approved by the Court which awards the divorce decree, and is usually approved at the same time the divorce judgment is issued. Companies and specific plans typically have their own QDROs with their particular terms, conditions, arrangements, etc.
